Injection molding machine for plastics or other plasticizable materials, e.g. powdered metals or ceramics, has at least two toggle levers (K) attached to the fixed mold plate (12). These are mounted symmetrically with respect to the line of closing (S) of the mold and each has its own drive (A). An independent claim is included for a method for operating injection molding machines fitted with the mold closings system, in which the alignment of the fixed plate is checked and adjusted if necessary by adjusting the drives.
