The system (1) has an electrical servo motor (7) i.e. permanent-excited synchronous motor, to produce a supporting moment. The servo motor has a rotor shaft rotatably supported in a stator. The rotor shaft is coupled with a steering toothed rack (8) of a steering rod (5). The rotor shaft is designed as a hollow shaft in which the steering toothed rack is accommodated. The rotating movement of the rotor shaft is transferred into an actuating movement of the steering toothed rack.
