The invention relates to a surgical microscope (1) the surface of which is at least partially provided with a bactericidal and/or fungicidal material intercalated therein. This surface section (A-D) comprises at least one support material (15) with an intercalation of a bactericidal and/or fungicidal material dispersed therein in the form of nanoparticles in the size of 20 nm. According to the invention, at least one support material (15) with an intercalation of a bactericidal and/or fungicidal material dispersed therein in the form of nanoparticles in the size of 20 nm is used for at least one partial surface (A-D) of a surgical microscope (1).
