The flowmeter has a flow channel (18) for a fluid and divided into two channel sections (22, 24) in a partition area (20). Fluid passages (26, 34) are fluid-operated and provided in the partition area of the channel, and a main beam of the fluid flowing in the channel is alternatively diverted into the channel sections by the passages. A detector is formed by a pressure sensor (48) to determine the temporal succession of direction changes of the main beam. The passages are formed so that the temporal succession of direction changes is dependent on the flow of the fluid. An independent claim is also included for a method of determining a flow of a fluid.
