Coating materials comprising (A) organosilicon compounds with hydrolysable groups, (B) organosilicon compounds with hydrolysable groups and non-hydrolysable groups containing crosslinkable epoxide, (meth)acryloxy or isocyanate functions, (C) crosslinkers, optionally (D) hydrolysable organo-zirconium, -titanium or -aluminum compounds, (E) hydrolysis catalysts, (F) crosslinkable epoxy prepolymers and optionally other components such as corrosion inhibitors. Coating material (CM) made from: (A) 15-50 mol% organosilicon compound(s) of formula (R a) 4-nSi(X a) n (I), (B) 30-70 mol% organosilicon compound(s) of formula (R b) 4-(p+q)Si(X b) p(Y b) q (II), (C) 2-25 mol% crosslinker(s), (D) 0-40 mol% organo-zirconium, -titanium or -aluminum compound(s) with hydrolysable organic groups (to form covalent bonds between silicon and the metal atoms of a substrate), (E) preferably hydrolysis catalyst(s), (F) crosslinkable prepolymer(s) selected from epoxy and/or epoxy-siloxane resins with an epoxy equiv. wt. (EEW) of at least 200, where the amount of such resins with an EEW of less than 200 (if any) is not more than 5 wt.% (based on A + B + C + D) and not more than the amount of resin with an EEW of at least 200, optionally (G) inorganic or organic corrosion inhibitor(s) and optionally (H) compound(s) for reducing the reactivity of (D). X a, X bhydrolysable groups; R anon-hydrolysable groups; n : 2, 3 or 4; R bnon-hydrolysable groups without epoxide, (meth)acryloxy or isocyanate functions; Y bnon-hydrolysable groups with crosslinkable functions, i.e. epoxide, (meth)acryloxy or isocyanate; p : 2 or 3; q : 1 or 2; with the proviso that n and the sum of p + q cannot be 4 at the same time Independent claims are included for (1) a method (M1) for the production of a coating on a substrate by preparing the substrate, preparing an incompletely-hardened coating material (CM), hardening or further hardening the CM and applying it to the substrate before or during hardening (2) a method (M2) for the production of CM by mixing components (A), (B) and (C), hydrolysing the hydrolysable groups in (A) and (B), adding (F) (before and/or after hydrolysis) and crosslinking the crosslinkable groups in (B) and (F) (3) coating material (CM) obtained by M2 (4) coated substrates obtained by M1.
