Composite useful as filler or pigment in paper making comprises inorganic/organic pigment and filler particles coated with composition having dolomite particles and binder
A composite comprises inorganic and/or organic pigment and/or filler particles coated at least partially with a composition comprising dolomite particles, and a binder. The spherical equivalent diameter of the pigment and/or filler particles is in the micrometer range and the spherical equivalent diameter of the dolomite particles is in the nanometer range. The binder is a copolymer comprising as monomers at least one dicarboxylic acids and at least one monomer from diamines, triamines, dialkanolamines or trialkanolamines. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) producing the composite involving providing the pigment and/or filler microparticles; providing the nano-dolomite composition; providing the binder; mixing the pigment and/or filler particles and the dolomite composition, where the binder is added to the pigment and/or filler particles to the dolomite composition and the resulting reaction mixture is homogenized; or the pigment and/or filler particles are added to the binder before, after or together with the dolomite composition, mixed therewith, and the resulting reaction mixture is homogenized; (2) an aqueous slurry comprising the composite; (3) use of the composite as filler or pigment; (4) a filtration aid, filler, pigment and coating color comprising the composite or the slurry; and (5) use of a copolymer comprising as monomers at least one dicarboxylic acids and at least one monomers from diamines, triamines, dialkanolamines or trialkanol amines for at least partial coating of inorganic and/or organic pigment and/or filler particles with a spherical equivalent diameter in the micrometer range with a composition comprising dolomite particles with a spherical equivalent diameter in the nanometer range.
