Magnetic resonance contrast agent comprises a polypeptide that binds to a biological structure in the body of a mammal and comprises an amino acid sequence of a bacterial iron-binding protein. Independent claims are also included for: (1) polypeptide comprising an amino acid sequence (S1) of a bacterial iron-binding protein and an amino acid sequence (S2) that binds to a biological structure in the body of a mammal; (2) nucleic acid coding for the polypeptide.
