The method involves arranging and pre-magnetizing two independent magneto-resistive sensor pairs (3) in a stationary unit (1) in direct proximity of a magnetic field source (4). A modulator (6) is arranged in a rotary unit (5) for rotating a rotating component, and the magnetic flow of the magnetic field source is changed at a location of the sensor pairs. The sensor pairs are energized during rotation of the rotating component that is used as a carrier for the cover elements of the modulator. An independent claim is also included for angle sensors for determining of the absolute angle position of a rotatable component.
