The cast iron alloy contains carbon 3.7-4.3 wt.%; silicon 0.8-1.5 wt.%; manganese 0.1-0.8 wt.%; copper 0.3 wt.%; nickel 0.2-1.0 wt.%; phosphorus and sulfur permissible as impurities only below 0.08 and 0.1 wt.% respectively; and iron to 100%. The silicon and nickel together should preferably total an amount of 1.2-1.8 wt.%.
