The method involves adjusting axial tolerance of a bearing during rotation of a front wheel hub, and pre-applying a clamping screw after fitting a clamping nut. The clamping nut is turned on an axle leg pin, and the clamping screw is pre-tightened to the clamping nut under a preset nominal torque. A wheel hub (8) is clamped by a clamping device (4), and an axle leg (1) is pressed against a fixed support plate (3) over an infeed slide (2). The axle leg is adjusted by a traction force through the infeed slide. An independent claim is also included for a device for semiautomatic or automatic axial-tolerance of a bearing for a front wheel hub.
