The method involves connecting a plastic pane (3) with a folding top cover (6) in an edge area (4) by using a laser device during a laser welding process. The folding top cover is pressed against the plastic pane during the laser welding process. The laser device is arranged opposite to the folding top cover and the plastic pane, such that laser light of the laser device for attaching the plastic pane at the folding top cover is aligned through the plastic pane at the folding top cover. An independent claim is also included for a folding top for a cabriolet vehicle.
