The lining has a brake lining backing plate (1) provided with a lining mass (2), which exhibits recesses at lateral edges (4). A brake lining backing plate sided wear edge rests with a distance to the brake lining backing plate within the range of 5 to 20 percentages of a thickness of the lining mass. The recesses extend from a friction surface up to the wear edge, where the recesses rotate continuously. An independent claim is also included for a disc brake comprising a fixed caliper.
