The device has a portable, manually movable applicator head (1). An illuminant is arranged in the applicator head for delivery of light by a light emission opening (15). A light sensor is arranged in the applicator head for receiving of light by the light emission opening. A power supply device is provided for supply the illuminant and a data processing device is connected with the light sensor in a data transferring way. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating the device.
