The procedure for single- or multi-layered application of a fluid up to porous coating medium on a running paper, card board or other web (2) of fibrous material by an application device (1) arranged above the web and at a short distance from the web for outputting layers of coating medium (M) in the form of coating medium curtain and/or for supplying layers (7) of coating medium on the web, comprises mixing the application medium to additives of 0.5-2 portion of high molecular and/or long chain carboxymethylcellulose, whose 1% aqueous solution has a viscosity of 500 mPas, and of 0.1-0.5 portion of tenside by which the application medium stabilizes a curtain delivered from the application device and a stretching is reached in the area of impact line and/or directly before the impact line on the surface of the fiber web.
