The system has a time delay and integration (TDI) sensor (1) arranged on a focal plane, an optical unit and a control unit (6) for controlling the TDI sensor. Speed (V) of a measuring object is determined from a data of a position and location measuring unit (5). The control unit synchronizes a clock of the TDI sensor with the speed, and a line of sight of the TDI sensor to the measuring object is determined from the data of the position and location measuring unit. Piezoelectric actuators (4, 7) change the geometric alignment of the TDI-sensor depending on the detected line of sight. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling an optical sensor system.
