The fuel injector has an injecting valve unit (38) for injecting fuel into a combustion chamber of a self-ignited internal combustion engine. The injecting valve unit is directly actuated over an actuator. A pressure in a control chamber (34) is influenced over a coupler (14) by the actuator. A throttle plate (24) is surrounded by a retaining body (20) of the fuel injector, where a luggage compartment and the control chamber stand in hydraulic connection with each other over the throttle plate.
