The fuel injector has actuator module (2) that cooperates directly or indirectly with control valve. A valve pin (7) is made to cooperate with funnel-shaped valve seat (8) adjacent to valve structure (9). The pin is guided in sealing sleeve (11) supported in valve chamber (12). The sleeve has throttle plate side interacting with cutting funnel in throttle plate (13). The sleeve has pivot point provided at specific distance relative to throttle plate, while pin has pivot point provided in seat region at another distance set equal to specific distance relative to throttle plate. An independent claim is included for method for designing fuel injector.
