The automobile navigation device has a control unit (10) connected with a data base (7) for determining a set of close convenient positions based on certain position. Information is selected from another data base by the control unit. The selected information is filtered by using the control unit based on a set of predetermined criteria, where the filtered information is provided as an output. A position determining unit e.g. global positioning system receiver (2), is provided for determining the position of the navigation device.
