The circuit has an unsymmetrical intermediate circuit for increasing number of potential stages. A series connection of switches is inserted in a three point power converter between switches (S1-S4), where the converter is implemented in a neutral-point-clamped topology. One of the series-connected switches is arranged in series with the switches of the converter. Capacitors (C1, C2) with different capacitances are charged with different voltages.
