The dryer (10) has a hot air blower supplying hot air to surfaces of a printed sheet (14) over blow strips (18, 20) for drying the surfaces. The blow strips direct the hot air to two areas of the printed sheet which are arranged at a distance in a direction of a conveying path. A suction box (32) is arranged laterally to the conveying path and sucks air between the areas laterally along the conveying path such that a laminar air exchange takes place at the surfaces of the printed sheet.
