The device has a data bus (DB), an evaluation device (AE) with evaluation units (AE1, AE2), sensors (S1, S2) for detection of measured values (M1, M2), and a controller (SG), where each evaluation unit is connected with the sensor. The evaluation unit (AE2) is connected with the controller over the data bus for outputting results (E2), where the evaluation unit (AE1) is connected with the data bus for reading the results (E2). Results (E1) of the evaluation unit (AE1) and the results (E2) of the evaluation unit (AE2) are compared in the evaluation unit (AE1). An independent claim is also included for a method for monitoring of a functional unit (FE) in a vehicle.
