The device has an angular cross-sectional sealing element (10) received in an end of a cylinder sleeve (5), where the end faces a cylinder head (3). A side piece (11) of the sealing element runs approximately parallel to a longitudinal axis (12) of the cylinder sleeve, and a radially running side piece (13) runs approximately parallel to a sealing surface (14) of the cylinder head respective to an engine block (2). The radially running side piece facing the cylinder head is connectable with the cylinder head by adhesive bonding formed of polyimide.
