The device has an electronic control unit for calculating electric energy required by an electric drive as a function of motion profiles of the electric drive. The electronic control unit calculates an average electric power demanded by the electric drive over a period of time. An electric energy storage device e.g. capacitor, is located between a voltage source and the electric drive. A converter or inverter (4) supplies the electric drive with the electric power. The converter or inverter is connected between the energy storage device and the electric drive.
