The valve (1) has a valve unit with a sealing surface (13) movable to and fro relative to a hollow cylindrical valve seat (7). A transverse load/transverse force generating unit generates a transverse load or transverse force at the valve unit for lateral pressing of a hollow cylindrical and projecting area (14) against an outside peripheral surface of the valve seat during opening and closing movements of the valve unit, such that the valve unit slide along the valve seat.
