Claimed is a paper/carton machine whose nip gap bending is compensated by a first roller with a stationary crosshead (2) and adjustable hydrostatic supports (3) in contact with the rotating drum mantle. The first roller forms a nip in conjunction with a second roller. Both sides of each hydrostatic support (3) have tubular oil feed pipes (4a, 4b; 5a, 5b). The actuators (7a, 7b; 8a, 8b) are mechanical, electrical or hydraulic, or a combination of these. The drum mantle is fabricated of a composite material, cast iron or steel.
