The assembly (17) has an air bag module (18) with an air bag guide (42) made of synthetic plastic, where the guide comprises an inner end (44) secured to a seat frame (24). A tubular portion (46) of the guide extends from the inner end adjacent to the air bag module and towards a deployment seam (34) of a seat trim cover (32). The tubular portion guides an air bag (40) of the air bag module during inflation and movement of the trim cover deployment seam. The air bag is inflated by an inflator (38) to open the seam and extends outwardly to provide protection to a vehicle seat occupant.
