The phonation indicator (1) has a phonation or clamping mechanism and a support rail (2) is fastened on a kettle drum frame. A cable control with a cable (5) is connected with the phonation or clamping mechanism. The cable is held on the support element in the area of an end and movable over a cable clamping device and has a cable length (5.1) extending on a front side of the support element. An indicator (9) is provided on the cable length which cooperates with the marking on the support element.
