The method involves using a series of colors of a print job for intensive cleaning of a roller inking system (4) of a printing machine (1). Volume of the color is introduced in the inking system during intake of the color, where the volume of color for intensive cleaning of the inking system is determined. A preceding print job is printed with a preceding color. The inking system is washed to remove the color, which is contaminated by color residues, from the inking system.
