The system (10) includes an endoscope instrument (50) that has reflector (50W) inserted to one end (20T) of observation unit (20) to reflect the light, sent from the end of the observation unit, into the observation unit. The distance between the end of observation unit and the reflector is adjustable. The observation unit transmits the observation light from a light source (34). A detector (32) is provided to detect luminance or chromaticity of the light in observation unit. An adjusting unit (38) stops lighting or white alignment of lighting based on detected luminance and chromaticity. An independent claim is also included for the endoscope instrument included in the endoscope system.
