The method involves producing data items and two-dimensional depth slice images i.e. optical coherence tomography live-B-scan-images, from retina. A position of the data items in the recorded two-dimensional image of the retina is known and/or preset based on the two-dimensional images. The position and/or alignment of the slice images is actively controlled depending on surface images i.e. angiography images, by the actualization of the surface images. The actualized images and the slice images are simultaneously represented in preset small time intervals by display units. An independent claim is also included for an apparatus for examination of retina.
