The system has a computation module estimating several surfaces on the basis of pressure signals and calculating a slew rate of vacuum pressure in a fuel system (16), during operation of a rinsing valve. A function module determines whether an average slew rate of the vacuum pressure is within a preset area and produces a rinsing valve function flow signal, when the average slew rate of the vacuum pressure is not within the preset area. A surface calculating module computes measured surfaces based on the surfaces. An independent claim is also included for a method for predicting a rinsing valve function interference for a fuel system.
