The linear motion device (10) has surface regions (28, 28') which are opposite each other at two spacing measurements. The first measurement is greater than the second measurement, and also greater than the clear measurement of the opposite surface on the runner (40). The second measurement is formed at an end region of the guide rod, or at both its end regions.
