The plug (21) for the ends of tubular slats forming part of a floating swimming pool cover has a connector (30) with a U-shaped cross-section which fits into its free end. A wedging component (40) fits into the connector, teeth (46) on it cooperating with toothed surfaces (36) on the inside of the connector. Independent claims are included for: (A) slats fitted with the plug; and (B) floating swimming pool covers made up of the slats.
