The system has a pressure wave supercharger device (PWS) connected to an internal combustion engine. The device has an exhaust gas anti-pollution unit provided in channels of a rotor (31) and in intake and exhaust side stators. The stators connect the channels with air supply conduits (17, 18) and exhaust gas evacuation conduits (19, 20). The stators have shear type flaps formed by sliding valves to modify passage sections of respective openings (42, 44, 46, 48) for increasing retention time of a burnt gas in the device. A logic controller controls movement of the valves. An independent claim is also included for a method of controlling a driving system of a motor vehicle.
