The roller has a support shaft (2) coaxially supported by an external tube (1) by a rolling cage (4). The cage has an outer ring (6) supported on the tube and an inner ring (7) pivotingly mounted on the shaft by a trunnion (8) oriented orthogonally to a main rotation axis (B1) of the roller. The trunnion is mounted on the roller by a pivoting ring subdivided into coaxial end elementary rings (9, 10), where the trunnion is indifferently integrated to the rings (9, 10) by a sealing boss. A protection unit is constituted of a plate extending proximal to an external surface of the tube.
