The apparatus (I) has a therapy probe (1) with a transducer (2) formed by ultrasound emitters (3) e.g. piezoelectric element, distributed in categories on a high intensity focused ultrasound emission face (8) which is a revolution surface generated by rotation of a curve segment around an symmetry axis. The categories define independent and contiguous focal volumes. A control circuit (7) has a signal generator for independently, alternately and consecutively activating the categories of the emitters to ensure continuous insonification according to a crown derived from different categories.
