The apparatus has a control unit (7) comprising an excitation source (5) to excite an ultrasonic transducer (3) by an electrical control signal with frequency ranging between 0.8 MHz and 5 MHZ. Programmed operation cycles of the transducer include a combination of pulsated operating modes and continuous operating modes. A viewing and selection system (11) views and selects one of the operation cycles of the transducer. A triggering unit (15) triggers the selected operation cycle to apply a control signal comprising a combination of the pulsated and continuous operating modes.
