The method involves acquiring video data of one of zones by using a mobile video camera (2) of a trailer type mobile and autonomous video monitoring device (26). The data is compared with reference data of the zone. The reference data and an identifier of the associated zone are stored. The camera is rotatably displaced in a periodical manner between a set of positions associated with the zones to be monitored, and each of the positions is compared with the reference data.
