The tray (1) has long lateral walls (9, 9`) and short lateral walls (10a, 10b) extending from sides of a rectangular shaped bottom wall (7), where the walls are formed by folding a blank. A main rigidifying rib (12) of the bottom wall extends along an internal surface of the wall (7). The rib has a height for forming a compartment wall of the bottom wall, and the rib is formed by folding a central band formed in a central part of the bottom wall. The central part includes end-fold portions forming lower edges of the rib, and central fold portions interposed between the end-fold portions. An independent claim is also included for a blank for forming a tray through folding, comprising a central part.
