The invention relates to multiline linear array sensors with scrolling and signal summation, for the synchronous reading of the same image line successively by N lines of P photosensitive pixels and the pixel-to-pixel summation of the signals. read by the different lines; Pixels are active pixels of MOS technology. A matrix of pixels (MC) is associated with a transfer matrix (MT) comprising N rows of P accumulating registers. Each integration period is digitized (by a CAN converter) and the content of a row of pixels is stored in a row of accumulator registers, this last line being switched at each new integration period in correspondence with the scrolling of the image in front of the sensor. The signals coming from an image line viewed successively by N rows of pixels accumulate in the same row of registers. After N integration periods the contents of a given line of registers is extracted and this line is reset. Then, at each subsequent integration period it is the content of another line (according to a circular permutation of the N lines) that is extracted and reset. The line extracted is each time the one that has suffered N accumulations after a reset.
