New terpene derivatives useful as an antibiotic or a bactericide in the treatment or prevention of bacterial infections, preferably gram positive bacterial infections

Terpene derivatives (I) are new. Terpene derivatives (I) of formula CH3-C(CH3)=CH-C(O)-CH2-A-CH2-C(O)-CH=C(CH3)-CH3 (Ia) or CH3-C(=CH2)-CH2-C(O)-CH2-A-CH2-C(O)-CH2-C(=CH2)-CH3 (Ib), are new. A : NH, O, S, CH2 or R-(CH2)2-R1; and R, R1NH, O, S or CH2. Independent claims are included for: (1) the preparation of (I); (2) a composition comprising (Ia) and/or (Ib), a second molecule active against microorganisms and optionally a vehicle; (3) a bacterial strain i.e. able to produce (I); (4) a strain derived from the previous bacterial strain, having the capacity to produce (I); and (5) modulating the bacterial profile of a biological sample or a surface, comprising contacting the sample or surface with (I) or a composition containing (I). ACTIVITY : Antibacterial. MECHANISM OF ACTION : None given.
