The method involves totally or partially sorting telephone number and/or names, which corresponds to a sub-sequence of digits entered by a user according to a length of the sub-sequence identified in each number and/or name. The numbers and/or names whose sub-sequence of identified digits is lengthy at interior of the sequence of the digits are displayed in top. The numbers and/or associated names are displayed in an order given by the sorting operation. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for arranging a telephone number (2) an apparatus comprising a storage unit.
