The fitting i.e. glove compartment (4), has a mobile slide (8) with a front wall (18) and a base (16) to delimit a storage space (14). A connection unit (10) guides the slide in translation with respect to a housing (6) between a retracted position inside the housing and a deployed position in which the wall is located outside the housing. The wall is movable with respect to the base, and releases a lateral access opening (26) to access the space. A control (34) e.g. press button, is activated to release the slide and the wall from respective locking units of the slide and the wall.
