Space-time coding method for ultra wideband multiple input multiple output transmission system, involves coding symbols into vectors defined as elements of matrix formed by near permutation of transmission intervals and radiative elements
The method involves coding a block (S) of information symbols belonging to alphabet of M-pulse position modulation (M-PPM) or combined pulse position modulation and pulse amplitude modulation (PAM) type composite modulation (M-PPM-M`-PAM), into a sequence of vectors by a space-time coder (410). The vectors are defined as elements of a matrix formed by near permutation of transmission intervals and radiative elements (430-1-430-P) e.g. ultra wideband (UWB) antennas. Components of the vectors modulate pulsed UWB signals e.g. direct speed UWB signals, for radiative elements and intervals. An independent claim is also included for a method for transmitting a set of information symbols belonging to composite modulation or M-PPM modulation alphabet.
