The arrangement has a slide (28) occupying discrete positions in a guide rail (30), where the positions are determined by engaging a bolt (32) carried by the slide in a notch (34) that is formed in the guide rail. The positions correspond to determined inclination positions of a backrest. The bolt is elastically returned to an engagement position, in which the bolt is engaged with the notch against a releasing unit. The slide has a locking unit (38) for locking the bolt in the engagement position, and a pad (44) made of elastically deformable material.
