The device has a cooling enclosure i.e. water chamber of a cylinder head, with a lower stage (20) divided into two compartments, which communicate with each other via an opening (31). The opening communicates the stage (20) with an upper stage (30), where one of the compartments is placed at the periphery of a combustion chamber (24). A cooling enclosure (10) of a cylinder block i.e. cylinder crankcase, communicates with the stage (30) by an orifice (4) of a cylinder head gasket (50) and a connection. The enclosure (10) communicates with the compartment by an orifice (6) of the gasket.
