The arrangement has a retractable rear seat including a movable base (1) carried by a base support (3) that is articulated on a floor (4) of a motor vehicle for permitting a pivotment of the base towards the rear between current usage and retracted positions. A backrest (2) is connected to the floor by a connecting rod (6) that is articulated on the backrest and the floor such that the pivotment of the base towards the rear guides a pivotment of the backrest towards the base and a pivotment of the base towards the front guides a deployment of the backrest. An independent claim is also included for a motor vehicle comprising a rear seat.
