The arrangement has a seat retainer (6) maintained at a level of a floor pan (2) of a passenger compartment (1) of a motor vehicle. A base (8) is mounted on the seat retainer by a lateral and longitudinal sliding system (9). A backrest (11) is maintained to pivot with respect to the base. A tiltable, foldable and unfoldable rear seat (4) is passed from an unfolded position to a tilted and folded position (T) against a front seat (3). A blocking unit (17) maintains the rear seat (4) in its folded and tilted position regardless of the longitudinal position (L) of the front seat (3).
