The device has a carriage (12) mounted in vertical translation along a frame (1) of a distillation apparatus and connected to a heating chamber (2) by a constant force spring to displace the chamber between rest and work positions. A control lever (14) is actuated to control the translation of carriage and displacement of the chamber. Locking units (20) are mounted on the frame, and move between a coupling position in which the units lock the chamber in work position and an uncoupling position in which the units return the chamber from the work position to the rest position under its gravity.
