The machine (1) has a central cutting unit (10) and lateral cutting units. Each unit has a rigid case (13) supporting a cutting rotor (29) having a cutter. The lateral cutting units pivots between a folded work position and a raised transport position. An alarm unit (300) has a movable sensor (301) that is arranged to contact with ground during cutting work and when the cutter approach the ground. The sensor is movable between an inactive rest position and an active position in which an alarm signal is emitted indicating the cutter approaches the ground.
